Think Outside The Box; Uncommon Opportunities

September 3rd, 2010 by Rob M

Before the recession I spent 11 years in the residential homebuilding industry. I say this so that you understand I was doing the same thing for a long time. In the BCR time (Before Current Recession), this was a good thing. Time in an industry was synonomus with experience. Experience gave a person a wealth of knowledge to draw from.Knowledge prepared that individual to adapt in times of change or crisis.

Here’s the catch;

Those skills of adaptation, that knowledge, the experience that took years to accumulate became worthless overnight. What good is experience, when the industry that you worked in ceased to exist? What good is knowledge when the framework that it is based on has been torn asunder? Even worse, the skills and experience of the past become a plasticized skin, a mold that rigidly wants to maintain its shape. In short, the past makes you resistant to change.

But somewhere within that mold lies our greatest strength. Adaptation. There is within each of us the ability to change. We cannot forget the past, but we can let it go. We can take our experience and our knowledge and use tem to shape our future.

The next question is what do we do now? Initially I tried to stay within construction, but I realized that it was necessary to look farther afield. In my searches I have found a few opportunities but every now and again, something comes up taht makes me take notice.

Whenever I can find good work that does not force me to spend thousands of dollars in materials or training and allows me to use skills that are common to us all, I will share them with you. I am looking for myself and I will include you in my quest.

Look at This! This article, Think Outside The Box; Uncommon Opportunities is available for free reprint.

Affiliate Programs – Ten Ways To Dominate

August 18th, 2010 by Brian Lett

1. Participate in chat rooms related to the product you’re reselling. Start a conversation with a person without trying to sell to them. Later on, while you are chatting, mention the product you’re reselling.

2. Put a free eBook together which is full of valuable information, relevant to your niche. Make sure that you include a link to your affiliate website on the cover. The content of the eBook should attract the attention to your niche market.

3. You can develop a directory specifically for affiliate programs. The best strategy is to become a member of an affiliate network. Thereafter, you can choose several affiliate programs to place in your directory. Once you have done this, advertise your free directory for affiliate programs. Search engines have a high amount of trust for directories.

4. Create you own ads for the affiliate programs which you promote. You have to stand out from other affiliates by being unique.

5. Give a product which you are promoting your personal endorsement. Of course, you can only do this if you have actually used the product or service which you are promoting. Give your opinion on three or four similar products which you are promoting, and rank them from best to average.

6. Article marketing is a great way to promote affiliate products. After all, people often go to the Internet to search for their information. If they are looking for information pertaining to your niche, let them find your article. Lead the reader to your website by placing its link in the Author Resource Box at the bottom of the article.

7. Join co-ops with complementary websites. The key is not to focus on websites which are not in direct competition. Rather, focus on websites which can result in a mutually beneficial relationship. This is a great opportunity to get in front of your targeted market at no cost. For instance, you can trade banner ad space with other relevant websites.

8. Get involved on forums. Providing answers to questions posed will boost your reputation. This will lead to you becoming an expert in the area of the forum. Make sure that you include a link to your website in the signature of your posts.

9. Put out a free ezine. Similar to your eBook, you are able to utilize the ezine to promote your chosen affiliate programs. Put an opt in form on your website, and require visitors to submit their email address to receive the free ezine. Make sure that you also submit your ezine to directories.

10. Start a private website. Use it as a free bonus if people buy the product you resell. You could also allow people to join for free and you could advertise the affiliate programs you have joined.

Basic Items Needed To Start A Glass Cleaning Business

July 12th, 2010 by Zara Colwell

Running and operating a business is a blessing and a curse at the same time. The blessing comes from knowing that you are in charge, but the curse comes from knowing that you have to be able to maintain contracts to keep bring in more money. However, the curse is also present when you look at the basic tools needed to start a window cleaning business if that is the line of work that you are doing.

An item that you should have in your tool kit to be successful is going to be a squeegee. You might think that the paper towels will work as well which they will to a point, but to get the window streak free a squeegee is going to be the best way to go.

Another tool that you should have is a bucket. The bucket will be needed to help hold the cleaning solution that you are going to be using to clean the windows. Without this you might have to use a spray bottle, but you will not be able to get as even of a spread onto the windows.

Ladders can come in handy as well in this line of work since windows on store fronts will be taller than you can reach. Most of the windows on office complexes are taller than you can reach. Since they are taller you will have problems reaching them if you do not get a ladder.

The cleaning agent that you use will become your best friend since it is what will be getting the window wet for you. Without this you are going to basically just be dry rubbing the window which is not going to get dirt off. However, if you use this it will make the window wet which will allow the dirt to come right off on your squeegee.

Another tool that you will need that can come in handy is going to be towels. These will be useful on many different levels. One level is that it will help clean the squeegee off for you when it is getting dirty and to wet, but they can also be used to clean up the window corners that the squeegee might have missed.

Being able to start your own business is a great thing. However, if you are starting one you will want to know about some of the basic tools needed to start a window cleaning business. Some of those tools are going to be a squeegee, bucket, and even a cleaning solution.

Window cleaning services is a business that requires a minimal amount of equipment to get started. Window cleaners may work as many or as few hours as desired.

Training For PC User Skills – An Analysis

July 7th, 2010 by Jason Kendall

Only one in ten people in the United Kingdom are enjoying job satisfaction. Of course, most will just stay there. The fact that you’ve got this far if nothing else tells us that you know it’s time to make a change.

Prior to considering specific training programs, look for an advisor who will be able to guide you on which area will be right for you. An advisor who will take time to get an understanding of your personality, and discover what type of job will be right for you:

* Is collaborating with others important to you? Is that as part of a team or with many new people? It could be working by yourself with your own methodology would give you pleasure?

* What ideas are fundamentally important with regard to the industry you’ll be employed in?

* And how many years do you want to get out of your retraining, and can your chosen industry offer you that opportunity?

* Do you believe that retraining in your chosen sector will offer you employment opportunities, and provide the facility to be employed until your pension kicks in?

Pay attention to the IT sector, that will be time well spent – it’s one of the few growth areas in the UK and Europe. In addition, salaries and benefits exceed most other industries.

Many trainers will provide a useful Job Placement Assistance program, to assist your search for your first position. It can happen though that too much is made of this feature, because it’s really not that difficult for a well trained and motivated person to secure work in this industry – as there is such a shortage of well trained people.

Nevertheless, don’t wait till you’ve passed your final exams before getting your CV updated. As soon as you start studying, enter details of your study programme and place it on jobsites!

Getting onto the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s is better than being rejected. Many junior support jobs are given to trainees in the early stages of their course.

Most often, an independent and specialised local recruitment consultant or service – who make their money when they’ve found you a job – will be more pro-active than a sector of a centralised training facility. It also stands to reason that they’ll be familiar with the local industry and employment needs.

To bottom line it, as long as you focus the same level of energy into securing a position as into studying, you’re not going to hit many challenges. Some students curiously conscientiously work through their training course and do nothing more once certified and seem to expect employers to find them.

You should look for an authorised exam preparation system as part of your training package.

Steer clear of depending on non-official exam papers and questions. Their phraseology is sometimes startlingly different – and this leads to huge confusion when it comes to taking the real exam.

Be sure to ask for testing modules that will allow you to test your understanding along the way. Simulated or practice exams help to build your confidence – so you’re much more at ease with the real thing.

Make sure you don’t get caught-up, as many people do, on the certification itself. Your training isn’t about getting a plaque on your wall; you should be geared towards the actual job at the end of it. Stay focused on what it is you want to achieve.

It’s not unheard of, in some situations, to thoroughly enjoy one year of training only to end up putting 20 long years into a tiresome job role, as an upshot of not doing the correct research at the outset.

You also need to know how you feel about career development, earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. It’s vital to know what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, which particular exams are needed and in what way you can develop commercial experience.

Chat with a skilled advisor that has a background in the industry you’re considering, and could provide a detailed run-down of what you actually do in that role. Contemplating this before commencement of any study course makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

Students who consider this area of study are usually quite practically-minded, and don’t really enjoy classrooms, and slogging through piles of books. If you identify with this, try the newer style of interactive study, where learning is video-based.

Many studies have proved that memory is aided when all our senses are involved, and we get physically involved with the study process.

Study programs now come in disc format, where your computer becomes the centre of your learning. Through video streaming, you are able to see your instructors showing you how it’s all done, with some practice time to follow – in a virtual lab environment.

You must ensure that you see examples of the study materials provided by your chosen company. Be sure that they contain full motion videos of instructors demonstrating the topic with lab’s to practice the skills in.

Purely on-line training should be avoided. Ideally, you should opt for CD and DVD ROM courseware where offered, as you need to be able to use them whenever it’s convenient for you – and not be totally reliant on a good broadband connection all the time.

Compared – Green Engineer Certification – What’s Needed

July 5th, 2010 by Jason Kendall

Can you imagine yourself working in an exciting new industry that’s pushing environmental boundaries? Gain professional qualifications in ‘green skills’ and such a career can be yours. In just a few short months from now, you could be helping people in the UK or abroad to reduce the amount of CO2 they consume, and cut their energy bills considerably.

Fuel prices are continuing to rise as gas and oil is steadily running out. Carbon emissions will have to be reduced. Members of the public are being urged to ease back on their consumption, and look to efficient renewable energy sources. In Britain grants of up to 80 per cent are being made available (and in some instances 100 per cent) to cover the labour costs of certain energy efficient improvements. So domestic engineers with the correct skill-sets can find themselves in high demand. It’s therefore a good idea commercially that your electrical or plumbing training includes working with green energy systems. If you’ve been in the industry for a while, check out the new courses and certifications in green engineering.

Planet earth provides us with a rich source of renewables from which to extract more energy for our own use. By harnessing the energy from the sun, the wind or the tides we can create alternative sources of power. We’ve used wind and water for many years, but it’s the sun that provides energy for many newer replenishable systems. Consequently there’s a growing demand for green engineering work.

Domestic hot water pipes can be connected to solar water heaters to provide free heat to the system. We’ve had solar thermal systems in Britain since the seventies, so today’s models are now very well developed. A UK family could expect to get most of their hot water from a modern solar system from June to September. This lessens their impact on the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by something like 400 to 750 kg a year. Collection equipment comes in the form of the more efficient evacuated tubes, or the perhaps more visually attractive solid flat plates. Both are easy to install and maintain, and ideally should be fitted to a south facing roof.

To generate electricity, photovoltaic solar panels are used to capture the sun’s energy. Once again, the panels should be fitted to a south facing roof or wall, along with an inverter in the loft to convert the DC electric current to AC. This is then connected to the fuse board of the house to supply electricity for lighting and appliances. Solar electricity is renewable energy that doesn’t release any carbon dioxide or other harmful pollutants. Home owners will reduce their bills and their carbon footprint. If the household doesn’t use all of their PV generated electricity, it’s automatically fed back to the National Grid. To encourage more people to invest in solar PV systems, UK legislation has increased the amount energy companies have to pay for this fed-back electricity. Key factors that will impact the amount of electricity generated are the size of the system, the geographical location, the angle of the panels and any shading from buildings or trees etc.

Ground Source Heat Pumps create heat sources from solar energy that naturally exists in the earth. Heat pumps are connected to great lengths of underground geothermal piping that contains a non freezable substance. The fluid becomes warm as it circulates inside the pipes and thus heat is transported to the pump. The most efficient way to use this heat is in underfloor heating systems, but it can also be used for heating water in radiators. Ground source heat pumps will lower household fuel bills. They need a small amount of electricity to run them, but can produce four or five times as much as they consume.

Typical training will give you a greater understanding of renewable energy and the careers you can pursue. You’ll be taken through the basics of electrical and plumbing skills in the domestic market, before moving on to specific green technologies. Most courses will also deal with what government assistance is available and how people apply for it. As more and more householders are becoming interested in solar energy systems in particular, you should concentrate first on the skills that will bring in the most work. Essentially, courses are there to equip you for work – so all parts of your training should lead to industry recognised qualifications. The green market is growing fast, and opportunities are increasing in existing domestic properties, new builds and social housing.

The law now dictates that all homes sold in Britain must supply the new owners with an Energy Performance Certificate to illustrate energy usage and where efficiencies can be made. Savings in some cases can run into thousands of pounds a year. The government is offering householders substantial grants to cover certain installation costs where work is undertaken by appropriately qualified Green Engineers. That’s merely the beginning though. By the year 2016, the law states that all new houses will have to produce a minimum of 15 per cent of their energy from replenishable supplies. The time is quickly coming when everyone will be looking for alternative energy solutions for their homes. Demand for skilled installers is about to soar!

Clarifying Plumbing Training Courses – An Introduction

July 2nd, 2010 by Jason Kendall

Whatsoever the particular circumstances regarding any national economic system, families absolutely need very good plumbers. It’s right to state that the economy has experienced a real albeit brief lull with new build work, but the actual demand for domestic plumbers continually exceeds supply. How often do you learn about the amount of calls another person needed to make – just to find a real plumber that was free to fix a lavatory from dripping? And naturally when people develop their homes, they need the expert services of a reliable local plumber – to install the central heating for example. On the whole then, starting to do a domestic plumbing course is a truly smart professional step.

Plumbing technicians operating within the commercial environment commonly work normal hrs. Nevertheless, self employed home-based plumbing engineers have got a very different scenario. Home-owners are generally out at jobs in the daytime, and local plumbers that are prepared to operate a handful of nights or Saturdays and Sundays can certainly noticeably increase their revenue.

You will discover a great amount of certainty if you’ve got the proper plumbing-related credentials. You will have enough knowledge to do a whole load of tasks. The actual job is without a doubt quite fulfilling, because you’re involved in seeing a project right through from beginning to end, or perhaps resolving challenges for individuals anytime household emergencies arise. The fact that you’re constantly working at many kinds of homes day in and day out tends to make the employment really pleasurable as well.

It is a tremendous positive to have several different trade skills. Your client base will probably widen, and also the projects will undoubtedly be a lot more profitable. You won’t be compelled to organise yourself around tilers or maybe electricians’ work-loads when you are able to perform little assignments by yourself.

Just about all trade recognized plumbing-related retraining programmes prepare for City & Guilds certifications as a foundation at least. Pupils leaving school or sixth form college will typically attend college full-time – and then get their on-the-job knowledge and NVQ’s or SVQ’s. However older job changers like to retain their old employment whilst they re-train part time. Typically the commercial training colleges are much more geared up for mature entrants’ requirements, as their curriculums are less inflexible and concentrate a lot more on the more in-demand skill-sets. Private college prices are likely to be higher, but yet overall they’re a good deal more economical for the individual aiming to work in their own business in a mainly domestic environment.

A good deal of work will come from contacts of clients you’ve finished a first-rate job for. People today love to recommend outstanding jobs. Course instructors will fill you in on all of your domestic plumbing specifications, but be sure you focus on your manners. You just do not know where your next work is coming from… Showing courtesy and respect will always go a really long way.

As you undertake your retraining programme, you will discover information on common plumbing procedures along with the key principles you have to understand. When, just like plenty of plumbing technicians you provide one or two additional competencies, you’ll possibly be ready to do jobs yourself with no need to involve other domestic trades. You may choose to gain qualifications to work with unvented hot water storage systems, or maybe water reg’s and gas. Multi-faceted private domestic plumbing curriculums are actually the shortest and most efficient pathway into the self-employed domestic marketplace.

When you’re going to head up your own private firm, you are going to have to get a better feel for the way to do accurate quotations. And so along with pricing your time, you will have to think about any additional expenses too. You might want to design some sort of plan to account for all of your business expenses. Many of the more business oriented re-training courses will , no doubt coach you on the subject of small business practices.

Many individuals get trained as plumbing technicians to allow them to become owner-employees and get greater control over how they live. Most people training at present will handle small domestic jobs around their local area. It makes sense this is the case, as the tasks as well as the profits never run dry for fully committed and thorough workers. If you’re fairly practical, or it’s all completely a mystery to you, once you’re coached and certified there is work for you to do.

Clarifying Training Courses For CompTIA Front-Line Support

June 29th, 2010 by Jason Kendall

There are four A+ exams and areas of study, but you only need to achieve certification in two for qualification purposes. This is why most training colleges restrict their course to just 2 areas. Yet learning about all 4 will help you to build a much wider knowledge and understanding of your subject, something you’ll discover is vital in the commercial world.

As well as being taught how to build PC’s and fix them, students on A+ courses will have instruction on how to work in antistatic conditions, along with remote access, fault finding and diagnostics.

If you would like to be the person who works for a larger company – fixing and supporting networks, you should include CompTIA Network+ to your training package, or alternatively look at doing an MCSA or MCSE with Microsoft in order to have a deeper understanding of the way networks work.

The right sort of training package will undoubtedly also include wholly authorised exam preparation packages.

Confirm that the simulated exams are not only asking questions in the right areas, but additionally ask them in the way the real exams will ask them. It throws people if the phraseology and format is completely different.

Obviously, it is vital to make sure you are completely prepared for your actual certification exam before embarking on it. Going over simulated exams adds to your knowledge bank and will save a lot of money on thwarted exam entries.

A competent and specialised advisor (in direct contrast to a salesman) will ask questions and seek to comprehend your abilities and experience. This is useful for calculating your study start-point.

Sometimes, the training inception point for a trainee with experience is massively dissimilar to the student with no experience.

Where this will be your opening attempt at studying for an IT examination then you should consider whether to begin with some basic PC skills training first.

Finding your first job in the industry sometimes feels easier to handle with the help of a Job Placement Assistance service. With the huge need for more IT skills in Britain even when times are hard, there’s no need to become overly impressed with this service however. It’s not as difficult as you may be led to believe to secure employment once you’re properly qualified.

However, don’t procrastinate and wait until you have completed your exams before polishing up your CV. As soon as you start a course, list what you’re working on and get promoting!

Getting onto the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s is more than not being known. Often junior support jobs are bagged by trainees in the early stages of their course.

Normally you’ll get quicker results from an independent and specialised local recruitment consultancy than you’ll get from a training company’s recruitment division, because they’ll know the area better.

A big aggravation for various training companies is how much men and women are prepared to study to get qualified, but how un-prepared they are to work on getting the job they have studied for. Don’t falter at the last fence.

Wouldn’t it be great to know for sure that our jobs will always be safe and our work futures are protected, but the growing reality for most sectors in the UK right now seems to be that there is no security anymore.

It’s possible though to discover market-level security, by searching for high demand areas, tied with a lack of qualified workers.

The computing Industry skills shortfall throughout the country clocks in at over twenty six percent, according to the most recent e-Skills investigation. Showing that for every four jobs that are available throughout the computer industry, there are barely three qualified workers to do them.

This one concept on its own reveals why the UK needs so many more people to get into the industry.

Actually, acquiring professional IT skills throughout the next year or two is most likely the greatest choice of careers you could make.
