Questions To Ask Freight Logistics Companies Before Signing

September 2nd, 2010 by Chris Channing

Moving products via freight is inexpensive and quick. It’s the standard transportation for the bulk of most business in the United States, and freight companies have sprung up all over the nation to take advantage of it. Weed out the masses with killer interview questions to form good business relationships.

The freight companies you wish to interview likely have different experiences with what they ship. One company might have more experience with dangerous freight such as chemicals, while others are solely for food products. The key here is to find which company has most experience in your area of business. Willing to get experience and actually having it are two different things.

Some things are mandatory: such as cargo insurance. The cargo insurance offered by the freight service shouldn’t be overpriced, and should be able to cover the majority of the costs of products if they are damaged. Full coverage insurance is nice for expensive products such as electronics. Ultimately, insurance is about breaking even or even making a profit from products even when they are in an accident.

The amount of money the freight operation costs isn’t always in black and white. There are some gray areas, and variable fees, that many companies employ. That means that getting a direct quote won’t always be possible, but you will certainly be able to get an accurate estimate. Don’t leave the meeting without first getting a print out of the rates and an expected estimate of the services proposed.

Outsourcing an operation to another company requires trust. This trust can mean many things, but primarily the company outsourcing the business trusts that the logistics service will stay in business and handle the logistics until otherwise needed. That’s why new freight companies aren’t trusted so much among large businesses. If the service were to disband, it would put the business using them into chaos while they scramble to find new solutions.

A familiar route is one with few surprised. Find a company that knows the general route you need to get products from one location to another. This might conflict with your determination to get a cost effective solution. When faced with an expensive local service or a cheap distant service, it can be more beneficial to pay extra. You could be saving money with less accidents and confusion.

Closing Comments

Always ask to see references before closing the meeting. Do follow up on them to make sure that the references check out. If none can be given, ask for a case study or proof of success with past clients of the freight logistics service.

Are Fancy Cellular Phones Really Necessary?

August 31st, 2010 by Alfred Lancer

We’ve all seen them, and some of us may even own one-a cell phone that has numerous capabilities beyond a normal phone. Some may contain cameras, games, internet access, blue tooth devices, speakerphone, and even video recorders, which enable its users to create mini home movies. What is the purpose of all of all these capabilities, and are they really necessary? Well of course, there are opposing opinions about this.

Some people are old-school, meaning they aren’t really into all the latest technology. They may not see the necessity in having a blue tooth device attached to their cell phone, or the ability to access the internet from it. They may have a very simple mobile phone that has the minimal amount of abilities because their needs don’t require them to buy all the extras.

These people may feel that people who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a simple device are ridiculous and are wasting their money. If they want to access the internet, then they can just do it the usual way-by using a computer.

Most people, of course, wouldn’t live without their cell phones and all the extras. They relish making mini home movies of their families and friends, and they enjoy the convenience of the ability to multitask with the addition of the blue tooth wireless device. Let’s face it: Many people lead busy lives and they may not have the time to do the things that other people do.

Like take the time to sit at a computer to check email or they may have the need to clean out their desk as well as talk to a client simultaneously. Holding a traditional cell phone between their ear and shoulder, and may cause neck cramping and pain, but with the use of the handy new blue tooth devices, multitasking is easy and hassle-free.

Looking To Hire? Hire A Middle Man

August 31st, 2010 by Azwar Khalid

When it comes time to hire executive members of your staff, there are a number of different routes you can go. There is the standard newspaper ad, or you can place an ad online. You can also talk to your business associates both within your company and out of your company to see if they know anyone that would meet the qualifications for the position. Or you can chose the most successful route, retaining an executive recruitment service.

Executive recruitment services are also known as headhunters. When using an executive recruitment service, you will be provided with only the candidates that meet specific job description requirements as well as the list of qualifications you have provided. If you are looking to hire senior level personnel or executive level management, retaining a qualified and successful executive recruitment service is the best option.

There is a great deal of advantages in using these services. For many companies the confidentiality of executive recruitment services is bar none. In taking advantage of the privacy structure, unless you make it publicly known, only a select few will be aware if you are hiring for a certain position within your company. An adept recruiter will come with the experience and savvy to ask the right questions so they will understand the climate in your business, therefore finding you the best individuals to add to your team.

Executive recruitment services are also research experts. While in a perfect world it would simply take a few phone calls to get your perfect candidate, that simply isn’t enough today. The truth is that headhunters spend hours not only calling candidates but scheduling interviews and meetings plus doing any needed travel to meet with you and/or the potential candidates as well as taking care of the paperwork. Believe it or not, the right firm will be able to find you an ideal candidate in the matter of a week or two. The point is that it does take time, time that you won’t have to spend if you have executive recruitment services at your disposal.

Recruiters always work with an ample amount of contacts. Executive recruitment services keep a database of the cream of the crop when it comes to candidates of all levels and industries. Specialized headhunters know the market and they possess an amazing ability to tap into it. What many do not know, is quite often recruiters get their leads from individuals who are believe or not, are not in the market.

These are just some of the few benefits of using a recruiter when seeking to hire a senior staff member. Because of the impeccable and invaluable service that executive recruitments services offer, many companies solely hire from head hunters. Before hiring one of these firms, it always pays to do research. Not all recruiting firms and individuals come with the same amount of education, experience, success and personality traits needed to find ideal candidates. You can always ask your business associates if they know any recruiters with a consistent track record. Once you find a company or individual who can assist with your hiring needs, you may never go back to the old way of hiring again.

Meaning Of Halal In Restaurants And Food Labels

August 28th, 2010 by Diego Perry

Many of us have seen the term “halal,” but not many of us know what it signifies. Halal can be seen on food labels and restaurants. The term is important for our Muslim friends as it shows what is allowed for them to consume by their Islamic dietary law. In a nation with citizens of different religions, the word halal is very important.

Muslims in Islamic countries don’t have troubles eating in halal restaurants and picking up halal products as most likely than not, they are halal-certified. But for those who are in nations that have mixed religious groups, the term is not as rampant as they would like. Good thing that more establishments are now becoming aware of their customer’s orientations.

The word halal simply means legal, which implies that if an eating establishment maintains they are halal-certified or a food item has this term on its tag, the preparation of their items is in accordance with the Islamic law. Muslims, therefore, are allowed to use or consume the product.

Just what are permitted in Islamic law? For meat products, the manner in which an animal should be killed must be swift. When killing an animal, its windpipe and gullet must be cut and done quickly.

If halal means lawful, haraam is the opposite. Muslims are not allowed to have haraam items, such as alcoholic beverage and pork. A halal-certified restaurant and a halal-approved food product should not include such ingredients. Also, they should be mindful ofhow they make the food, avoiding any contamination. If a spoon was already used for a meal with haraam ingredients, it should not be used any longer to prepare halal-approved food.

Haraam items also comprise of blood, birds of prey or carnivores, animals butchered in the name of anyone but Allah, corpse of an animal, or those that have been consecrated to another idol.

Halal-certified eateries should conform to the Islamic dietary laws. And because some items are difficult to determine whether they are halal or not, there are Muslim groups who certify food items as halal for consumers. Those products with halal certification are used as ingredients by halal eateries, just to make very sure that they are rigorously following the laws.

It’s good to know that there are eateries not run by Muslims that still take a great effort to adhere to Islamic dietary laws. It just means that they respect all their customers and honor their preferences and religious beliefs.
